Inspection of a co-orbital solar sail using a microthruster attitude control system

18/06/2013by Chris Brunskill Leave a comment

Brunskill, C. and Palmer, P. – The use of a solar sail allows a spacecraft to generate thrust at no expense of propellant. However, there is little data to quantify the […]

The InspectorSat Mission, Operations and Testbed for Relative Motion Simulation

18/06/2013by Chris Brunskill Leave a comment

Brunskill, C. and Palmer, P. – The InspectorSat mission is a concept designed to demonstrate complex and close-proximity autonomous manoeuvres around a passive, non-cooperative target, focused on the development of […]

A Novel ACO Algorithm for Dynamic Binary Chains based on Changes in the System’s Stability

31/01/2013by Chris Brunskill Leave a comment

Iacopino et al. – In the last decade, Dynamic Optimization Problems (DOP) have received increasing attention. Changes in the problem structure pose a great challenge for the optimization techniques. The Ant […]

Designing Natural Formations of Low Earth Orbitting Satellites

25/01/2013by ppalmerssc Leave a comment

P L Palmer & M. Halsall   In this paper we describe possible natural formations for satellites in low Earth orbit which exploit the Earth’s oblateness. These formations are based […]

Modelling Natural Formations of LEO Satellites

25/01/2013by ppalmerssc Leave a comment

M Halsall & P L Palmer   In this paper we consider the relative motion between satellites moving along near circular orbits in LEO. We are focussing upon the natural […]

Perspective Reconstruction of a Spheroid From An Image Plane Ellipse

22/01/2013by ppalmerssc Leave a comment

David Wokes & P L Palmer The perspective reconstruction of a spheroid’s position and orientation from a single image plane ellipse is derived, by direct inversion of the projection equations, […]

How to use this blog

This blog is dedicated to improving access to the cutting edge research output of the Surrey Space Centre. We aim to provide open access to our research output by sharing pre-print copies of our publications ahead of their publication in traditional journals.

We encourage visitors to download, read and study our preprints, and return to comment and provide feedback on our work. This two-way process of sharing will provide our research staff with robust feedback on the work, complimenting reviewer feedback. In return, our visitors are able to access our latest research accomplishments, many months before becoming accessible through journals or conference proceedings.
